From the manual (also included): The Portastudio 488 MKII is an 8-track "Multitrack Master" cassette tape recorder and a full-funtion mixer with 12 inputs/stereo outputs combined into a single workstation. Now for my input: This unit has been in storage since 1999. I've powered it up, tested all ins and outs, checked button function, and recorded to all 8 channels. From what I can tell, everything's working, but this unit is sold AS-IS, no guarantees. Even though it has low hours, you might want to change the rubber parts due to age (pinch roller and drive belt). Otherwise, it's ready to record your throwback home analog project.
