Description
Offered here is an authentic Anchor brand ship’s lantern, constructed of copper with brass fittings and a heavy Fresnel glass lens. This type of lamp was used as an anchor light on vessels, designed to provide 360° visibility when a ship was moored. Collector Details: • Front badge stamped “Anchor” • Copper body with aged patina, never over-polished • Original Wedge brass burner, intact with wick mechanism • Clear Fresnel glass lens – thick, undamaged, and hand-fit to the frame • Traditional oil reservoir still present and functional • Solid riveted and soldered construction typical of early to mid-20th century maritime lamps Condition: • Very good antique condition • Patina, tarnish, and light wear consistent with age and use • Glass lens free of cracks or chips • Mechanicals appear complete and operable Price: $175 OBO Provenance & Interest: Anchor lamps of this style were widely used on ships prior to widespread electrification. This example is particularly desirable for its completeness, heavy glass lens, and intact brass burner. It presents beautifully as a display piece and could be restored for use. An excellent addition to any nautical collection, maritime décor display, or antique lighting collection. These do not often come to market in this condition with the original burner intact.
