Description
Ohio Book Matches Matchbook Vintage c. 1938 To 1945, Unused, Unstruck Fascinating Fun Facts: • The Ohio Match Company was once the second-largest match producer in the U.S., behind Diamond Match Co. • Their factory in Wadsworth, Ohio, was a major employer and helped supply matches to both civilians and the military during WWII. • During the 1930s–40s, many matchbooks like these were “generic house ads” used to pitch matchbook printing services to businesses — advertising for advertisers! • The black & cream color scheme and minimalist decoration were economical to print and stood out in a sea of busier designs.
