Description
Surly Cross-Check purchased new in 2012 or 2013. Bike was used as daily year-round commuter in Oregon, Michigan, and California for eight or nine years. It shows signs of use through Rust Belt winters. I'm 6' 1" and this bike worked well for me. Supposedly, 62 cm is ideal for someone a bit taller than me. Nice accessories: -Nitto handlebar (Model 177, 44 cm wide) -Tubus front rack (old model, most similar to the current "Tara" line) -Blackburn rear rack -Original fenders (rear currently mounted; front missing central fork bolt) Winter damage: -Some rust around braze-ons and weep holes of the rear triangle -Left-hand side axle adjuster snapped off in frame; bolt extractor snapped off in what's left of the original screw. -Hub ruined by salty slush as well At a minimum, bike needs a new rear wheel/hub. It also needs new tires and bar tape. After that, a standard tune-up may be enough to make this a great bike. Otherwise, a new chain and sprockets may be necessary. Derailleurs are Shimano Deore, might be good after the tune-up, who knows? Since the rear hub is in rough shape, it is tough to assess.
