Description
I used Google lens to research these cast iron owl bookends. I found that they are antique and were manufactured by Bradley and Hubbard in West Meriden, Connecticut USA. They are circa 1920s. They seem to be considered a rare find. They feature an embossed owl and a sunburst motif, sometimes associated with a full moon design. Is that I have appear to have a bronze color finish with some green patina. While researching them I found them offered as a set by one person and a single one by another person and they were supposedly originally were hand painted. But I'm also seen them without any paint on them like the ones that I have. I have not cleaned these or done anything to them. The first six pictures are of the actual ones that I am selling. The other pictures are of ones that I was able to find. Please note the prices on those. In my opinion neither an excellent antique condition and are free of any chips, cracks or dents. The measurements on these are 5 7/8 in tall, 41/2 in wide, and 2 3/4 in from front to back. They would make an ideal gift for a bookworm, someone who collects owls, or anyone who appreciates antique decor. Located in Lakewood.
