Description

While this FJ62 was a luxury machine when it was hand-hewn from a solid ingot of samurai steel in a remote Japanese village during the Tokugawa shogunate, it is now a working adventure rig. Expect a stout exploration partner; don't expect a museum piece ready for the Concours d'Elegance. This truck is the perfect platform for beach trips and other local adventures. It’s inching towards 250k miles, so it’s not an ultra distance machine. Still plenty of life in this million mile engine. Runs great. Starts the first time most of the time. Transmission rebuilt last summer and humming. Automatic. Splurged on ceramic tint all around. Mainly because it looks bitchin’ but also to protect the dash and interior from the harsh rays and keep things cool inside in the summertime. AC recharged and works great for a 40year old unit. It’s a far cry from a modern vehicle, but pretty impressive when you think about this vehicle is old enough to be your father. Wheels upgraded to Icons clad with Toyo Open Country A/T 33swith spacers added to improve stance and eliminate rubbing. Custom shades all around. Blackout the sun and the brightest street lights when stealth camping. Two carry bags to store them in, the front window shade lives in the truck to protect the dash and the interior. Bluetooth head unit to play your tunes. Works great. Tesla electrical throughout. I’ve only put 3-4k miles per year. I only commute 5miles round trip and only 3 days a week. Add some weekend exploring and you still get a gently used truck that was loved just enough to keep the cobwebs off. Sleeping platform That’s easy to install and easy to break down and story. Super comfy for one, possible for two. Can reconfigure into a several arrangements for an inside couch lounge area or overloading work space. Plastidip to chrome delete fenders and emblems with metallic silver and black. That was 7 years ago though, so the bumpers could use a touch up. Or just peel it off with all the satisfaction of the world’s biggest blister. Plenty of fun trips still left to local mountain like Mt Laguna and up to Idyllwild. This truck performs like you’d expect from the vehicle that runs the world (watch the Donut LandCruiser - Everything You Need to Know on the YouTube if you haven’t already) Smoother than a 2019 on rough roads. Real trucks rattle (and squeak) but the suspension and solid axle gobble up washboards. The truck always maintains a super planted feel when crawling over rocky stuff. Handles better on icy roads and deep snow better than my 2009 Tacoma. Any serious off-roading is well above my pay grade, but for 99% of what we have in the local off-piste places, it’s perfect. Only selling because I’m ready to mix it up with a newer LandCruiser (80 series). So open to trade for an adventure ready rig if you happen to have one and are looking for a cool beach Cruiser. Opportunities: * This truck did a brief stint in Washington (it was in some ads for Burton Snowboards) before I rescued her and returned her home to Southern California. As such she’s got rust in the usual places. See pics for rear quarter panels. Cut em off and install a rad bumper? * Clear coat started peeling from the hood and the roof this January. Ready for a fresh coat of clear or a maybe some bodywork and full paint job? * Driver electric window works great, the others work eventually when they want to. IH8Mud suggests a simple terminal clean if you’re short on patience or finger strength. * Couple cracks on dash - solution = dash cover. * The engine has seen some years. Maybe LS swap? 1988 Land Cruiser with 245k miles. Ready to make your life better. $21k obo. Or trade for 80 series.
