The steel frame is hand welded for strength, and detailed with finials and decorative castings. Headboard is crafted of wood with foam padding and upholstered in a cotton/rayon blend fabric. 3-Slat support system requires the use of a box spring; 5.5" low profile is recommended. Both the headboard fabric and canopy top are removable. Mattress sits on side rails. Bed does not have a center support leg. Bed frame was $1799 plus tax and shipping new. Mattress and box spring were $800 plus tax and shipping new.
