In 1963, Barbie doll swept onto the fashion scene in an elegant ensemble worthy of a royal ball and designed to draw "ahs" of admiration from everyone on the guest list. Her rose-colored velvet coat featured a dramatic stand-up collar, and its pink silken lining exactly matched her full-skirted gown.
