Description
Ives-Way Automatic Can Sealer Model #400 Plus 17x #2 Cans and Lids (401x411) I purchased this home can sealer in December of 2004 so that I could create holiday gift candles (treasure candles) and then seal them up and decorate the cans. I put a great deal of time and money into creating these handmade gifts, but my family didn't appreciate the effort, so I lost interest in canning. This automatic can sealer and the #2 cans were purchased from the Embarcadero Home Cannery. The Model 400 was 250 in 2004 (plus tax and shipping) and the cans were 45 for 60 cans. These can sealers have gone up in price since then. I only have 17 of the cans and lids left, but you can always order more from any supplier. This can sealer is complete with all original parts and is in working order, ready to use. The model 400 is equipped to seal 8 oz., 13 oz., 19 oz., and 28 oz. cans. Sealers and Chucks for other can sizes are also available. Each includes easy to follow instructions. Each machine is completely equipped with a chuck and seaming rolls for one size can, calibration instructions, parts list, adjustment tools and lubrication instructions. This machine is configured to seal #2 cans (29.8oz measuring 4 1/16" x 4 11/16") Included Documentation: Operating Instructions and Parts List for Ives-Way Automatic Can Sealer #400 Can Seaming Technology sheet Instructions for Fish Cans Instructions for Canning Fish & Shellfish in Tin Cans Recipes for Canning in Tin Cans for Fruits, Vegetables, Meat and Poultry General: Economical, hand operated; includes instructions. This sealer will give years of dependable service. Perfect for the home canner. Operation: Sealers must be firmly clamped or bolted to a sturdy table or bench (clamp included). Sealing a can only takes about 30 seconds - just turn crank until seal is complete Process filled cans according to the included instructions in a water bath or pressure canner. Components: Gears and rollers made of hardened steel, body is made of die cast zinc. USA MADE Home Canning: Protect food from spoiling, keep grain away from bugs and moisture. Cans prevent light-sensitive fruits (like peaches) from darkening. Unlike jars, cans can withstand mild freezing and can't break if they're dropped or get knocked off the shelf. Set-up takes about 15 minutes, but once set for the right can, no further adjustments are necessary. Preppers: Canning supplies like strike anywhere matches, First aid supplies, bullets, etc can protect these items from moisture and insect damage. Can also be used to hide/protect valuables. If you seal food in the cans with a 300cc oxygen absorber you can get good storage life, up to 30 years depending on the food. Gift Wrapping: Christmas has been canned! You may have seen home canners at shopping malls during the holidays, happily canning your purchases and gift cards. Now you can do this at home. Create homemade items (like candles, or cookie mix in a can, etc) or simply seal up your store bought purchases and watch the fun as your gifts are opened. Makes a good 'peek proof' gift container.
