Selling these for my grandparents who are downsizing. Originally $300 a piece in around 1995 when they acquired them. I gathered these were the speakers to get in that price range at the time. Everything works and sounds perfect, there's a few scuffs on the box is all. Someone will definitely love these! Each speaker measures 8"×13"×39" and weighs 40 lbs. The sound is full, rich and accurate. I drive them with a Carver C1000A receiver, but they sounded good even when I drove them with an HK AVR10. I compared the sound of the S40 to that of my Allison speakers. I never thought I would be able to duplicate the performance of my Allison speakers with anything under $1,000.
