Description

Boost of the Dead Catch all Jerry Garcia style preamp pedal. This pedal contains versions of three buffering preamp style circuits Garcia used over the years. The first circuit, the toggle, is a take on the Jerry Garcia Tiger Buffer. This buffer cleans up the signal really nicely, it adds clarity and sparkle. Next, second circuit, the B on the right, is our version of a Stratoblaster style circuit. Before the Tiger Buffer was put into Jerry's guitars, he most utilized FET based followers and boosts. This circuit at the lowest setting operates like a follower, and then engages boost when turned up. It fattens up, and can add growl, to both single coils and humbuckers. Finally, third in line, the G on the left, is a modified Mutron style gain-stage. Old Mutron Envelope Filters are not true bypass, the gain-stage is always in the signal path, and for a time in the late seventies Garcia used the bypassed Mutron as his line driver. This circuit does an excellent job conditioning the signal, is a great overdrive, and provides a different tonal character than blaster type circuits. Unity is at about noon. And it also shines as an antiboost, turning it down a little to buffer and shape the signal. This circuit is a little warmer, thicker in the middle, and has less overall grit than the blaster style buffer boost... but is just as loud! Jacks: In on the Right, Out on the Left Toggle: Tiger Style Buffer Right Knob: Blaster Left Knob: Mu Gain Right Footswitch: Blaster Style Boost Left Footswitch: Mu Style Boost
