Description
Creamy white Spode Imperial coffee / tea pot in the shape of a pineapple, a New England symbol of hospitality since the 1600's. Amazing detail, minor crazing, gorgeous with other creamware patterns like Wedgwood 'Edme'. Marked HISTORIC NEWPORT APPROVED, and likely created in association with The Preservation Society of Newport County. Circa 1960. less This beautiful creamy white porcelain creamware Spode Imperial coffee or teapot is shaped like a pineapple, and comes with 4 perfect cups and saucers. There is some crazing indication of its age. Most likely made around 1960, marked HISTORIC NEWPORT APPROVED. Possibly in conjunction with the Preservation Society of Newport County. 9.5”w x 5.75”d x 8.5” h. 6 cup capacity. The symbol of the pineapple has been used from early colonial times as a symbol of hospitality. This set would blend wonderfully with today’s farmhouse style, looking lovely with ironstone and other ceramic ware. This set is in amazing condition no chips or cracks and it seems to have never been used.
