An oldie but goodie.i believe it to be brass.without using a tape measure I’ll say its 5” the piece was used in surveying and carpenter circles to allow you exact placement of property lines -construction measuring.this still has the old string on it. Hard to see but on the neck is engraved standard 2404-10. . Please feel free with any questions.easy local pick up .1st floor apt and a driveway.
