Description
A dramatic large-scale studio pottery bowl, wheel-thrown in stoneware and richly glazed in earth tones, dating to the 1960s–1970s. The exterior features a dark, tenmoku-inspired glaze with subtle olive drips and horizontal striations, while the interior is finished in a soft gray glaze accented by natural iron spotting and fine crackle. The exposed clay rim adds warmth and contrast, highlighting the craftsmanship. This substantial bowl embodies the organic modern aesthetic of the mid-century studio pottery movement, blending utility and artistry. Signed on the base, though illegibly, it reflects the individuality of the studio pottery tradition. Perfect as a centerpiece, fruit bowl, or sculptural accent in mid-century modern, Japandi, or eclectic interiors. Very good vintage condition with natural glaze variations and light surface wear. Two rim chips are present, visible, but not distracting when displayed. These are consistent with age and use and do not compromise the bowl’s overall presentation or stability. 17.5" in diameter, 7.5" high.
