Antique Brass & Glass Doorknobs, Vintage Schlage Lock, Old 6-Lite Casement Window

Additional images

Description

This item includes two (2) weathered, green-painted architectural elements: (1) A long wooden piece that is part of a door frame or jamb, featuring antique door knobs, including a brass knob on one side and a 8-point faceted clear glass knob with a metal thumb latch on the other, and a vintage Schlage double-sided deadbolt lock mechanism; and, (2) A “casement window” or wooden frame with six individual glass panes (referred to as “lites”) that is side-hinged and designed to pivot open. Additional Details According to an image search, the doorknob set appears to be an antique dating from the late 1800s to the 1940s. Research reveals that the Victorian era was considered the "golden age" for cast bronze, iron, and brass doorknobs in America. Additionally, faceted glass door knobs, with six to twelve facets (giving the appearance of a large diamond) were popular during the early 20th century when metals were needed for World War I. The long wooden piece measures approximately 43 3/4” x 6 3/4” (to edge off dowels) x 6” (knob to knob) and the window measures approximately 47 5/8” x 18 1/4” x 3” (to edge of white brackets). The item is in good, well-preserved condition (areas of worn paint/paint chipping which is consistent with vintage/antique architectural elements).
