It's easy to care for and can be grown indoors or outdoors.  It prefers bright, indirect sunlight, but can tolerate some direct sunlight. Avoid harsh midday sun, to prevent leaf burn. 
It needs ample light, but not too much water. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. 
Plant in well-draining, sandy, or cactus potting mix. Good aeration is crucial to avoid root rot. 
It needs warm temperatures to thrive. It will not flower until the second year. It can tolerate drought, light shade, and somewhat poor soils.
