Description
A finely crafted Chinese display cabinet made from richly toned rosewood (hongmu), with a deep reddish-brown luster and elegant sculptural form. Designed in the traditional bǎi bǎo gé (“hundred treasures cabinet”) style, it features an asymmetrical arrangement of open shelves, drawers, and sliding-door compartments for displaying ceramics, art, or tea wares, or scholars’ objects. Intricately carved panels depict pine trees and cranes, classic Chinese symbols of longevity and peace, while pierced gallery rails and decorative friezes add refinement. The smooth joinery, balanced proportions, and lustrous finish highlight the exceptional craftsmanship of mid-20th-century Chinese rosewood furniture. Beautifully suited for Asian-inspired, Chinoiserie, or eclectic interiors, this versatile piece functions as a display cabinet, bookshelf, or statement accent. Excellent overall condition with light wear consistent with age. There are some light scratches etc. Doors and drawers operate well. 35” wide, 13.5” deep, and 43” high.
