Description
For sale is a C Melody saxophone made by C.G. Conn in Elkhart. This model [the straight neck model] was marketed towards professional saxophone players, unlike some of the competing models with curved necks which were marketed towards amateurs. The bell is presumably engraved with the name of its original owner, Williams Winnipeg, and its serial number dates it to 1921. This instrument was professionally repadded and lubricated around 15 years ago. It used to play well and cleanly, although since it hasn't been serviced since then, it's probably due for a rewarding and cleaning -- a couple of keys are sticky. Otherwise, it's been in its case for the majority of the past 15 years and should be mechanically sound. A standard alto saxophone mouthpiece fits well onto this instrument. The instrument does show its age with various wear marks, tarnishing, and dings. I've always found this to give the instrument character, though I'll mention it here as to be transparent with the condition of the instrument. Please also note that the original case included with this instrument os in poor condition.
