1987 Bayliner 2850 Contessa. Volvo Penta 7.4lL big block inboard. with power steering, duo prop stern drive and trim tabs at the steering wheel. Interior is dated but clean. no rips or tears anywhere inside. Exterior upholstery has one torn seat back. Slip fees paid through end of April. Motor runs strong at 450 hours. Bought it a couple months ago and have already spent another $2000 on the thing. I just spent a week on it cleaning it up and installing all the canvas covers. And I can't deal with it. All the lights work, toilet flushes, sinks and pumps work. It just won't engage into gear. i'm not a mechanic but people who know these stern drives say that the fix is easy but it needs to come out of the water to access the upper gear box and repair the shift actuator. to take the slop out of the linkage. Boat is in a slip in Sacramento--no trailer. I'm only asking what I've got into it. If you buy it by the end of April, I'll knock $500 off the price. I paid cash so you must as well. As is, where is, $5000 and I hand you the title. If I sign a lease at the marina in May I will have the stern drive fully serviced. At that point, it will be peak summer boating season and price changes to $10,000. Get it while you can! Thanks.
