Description
This antique depicts Uncle Sam saying “Our Nation Pride”. The piece is 25.5 x 25.5” sq and hangs in a diamond shape. The mirror 5 x 5” is flanked by a soldier and a sailor, with Uncle Sam at the top and the bottom a representation of the USS Olympia. The Olympia defeated the Spanish fleet in the Battle of Manila Bay on May 1, 1898. The ship now serves as a museum in Philadelphia. The piece was made of embossed tin with a copper finish mounted on a wood backing. The mirror shows spots, it is still usable. Wouldn’t you like this piece of history? It has been in my family for 50 years and before that belonged to my father-in-law.
