Description

1978 Mercedes 307D (part of the Mercedes T1 van series, the precursor to the Sprinter). James Cook camper conversion by Westfalia. Super rare in the US (I know because I went through the 4 month process of getting it registered in California). Now fully registered! The van was shipped to Panama by an Austrian couple who traveled up from Central America over the course of a year. We bought it from them with the intention of traveling for a year ourselves. Unfortunately plans had to change, we now have only a limited period of time to travel, during winter, and decided to get a vehicle that is better in the snow.  - We just replaced the interior siding and new paint - New Pendleton upholstery - New flooring - Fixed the wiring from the solar system.  - Has two 100w solar panels, 280AH house battery, all LED lighting, heating/fan unit.  - Storage area in the back (ski or surfboard storage). Could also be used as a bathroom, comes with porta potti  - Two propane ranges, sink, fresh and grey water tanks.  - Elevated bed platform and fold out couch bed.  - Storage box on top - Extremely reliable Diesel OM616 4-cylinder engine. It is slow though, 60 mph max speed. You don't get there fast but you do it in style.  - Manual transmission.  - The van body has 247,000 km, per previous owner engine has 95,000 km.  - Five essentially new tires.  - Rear axle reconditioned in January. Bad Stuff: The refrigerator doesn't seem to work. Our intention had always been to replace it with a compression fridge, which is more efficient on 12V (solar). One of the plexiglass windows is broken (only one of the two layers broken). She's old but has been well looked after and everything else works. $16000 obo. Motivated to sell but serious inquiries only. Keywords: camper van, rv, westfalia, mercedes, james cook, van life, vanlyfe, vintage camper, TN van, T1 van
