THEY LET US DRIVE HOME IN A CAR NOT FIT TO DRIVE I would not recommend buying a car from here!! My 17 year old daughter purchased a 2002 Toyota Tundra with dangerously bald tires and no working headlights and brake lights. Let's address their "as is" policy. This was brought up as we were sitting down for the sale. There was no sticker on the car listing "as is" and we never signed off on any paperwork specifically stating what was wrong with the car. I expect a used car to have issues, but never would I imagine that I would have to pay just to make the car safe to drive. AND THEY LET US DRIVE THE 1 HOUR DRIVE HOME IN THIS VEHICLE. When I called back in 2 days from the purchase, I was ridiculed by one of their managers for not knowing better and he said that my 17 year old should know because she wants to be a mechanic. The manager did offer for us to return the car, but we had already put $1000.00 of tires on the car. In addition, how am I supposed to trust anyone at Windy City Motors? What ever happended to common human decency??
They let my mom and me drive off with an unsafe vehicle. We bought a 2002 Toyota Tundra and knowingly let us drive off with 3 bald tries, the newest tires in the set was from 2011. Knowingly or unknowingly, we drove off with the entire electrical system messed up. I took it to a 3rd party shop and they discovered that the person who installed the aftermarket radio left the main electrical wire exposed, which shorted to all the lights and caused everything to blow. What I find absurd is how sketchy their shop is. They told me to get a quote on the price of the repair in the electrical system but it is impossible to know the total of a repair unless the electrical is fixed along the way. This mean that the Windy City Motors dealers/management/techs would have likely replaced all of the light bulbs! I have a basic ASE certificate in electrical, and anybody with any knowledge in electrical will tell you that light bulbs won't fix that! And certainly there is no possibility way to predict how far the damage had gone. They refused to pay for the repairs of the electrical system since we drove an hour and a half with a dangerous vehicle. They denied ever offering to pay repairs (which they had multiple times with me and my mom) and refused to acknowledge to have ever lied and given the vehicle to a 17 year old... ME! They claimed since I "want to be a technician" I should have known, but with just three years worth of training in high school and only a semester worth of electrical, I don't know it all. I do not recommend buying used cars here, I also do not recommend taking your vehicle into their shop. They aren't like Ford or Honda's shop that actually know how to solve problems, they just put a bandaid on a broken bone.
Jonan helped me and my dad to get my vehicle and made the whole process super easy. He worked very fast and was on top of everything. He was really communicative the entire time, kept me updated, and answered all my questions. He was also very nice and genuinely put in a lot of effort to help us out. I really appreciate the great service and would definitely recommend working with him!
