Phenomenal Experience! Ask for Brian Wood! After having multiple incredibly negative, exhausting experiences at other Hyundai dealerships in the San Diego/Southern California area, coming to Carlsbad Hyundai was an absolute breath of fresh air. From the exact moment I arrived, I was greeted warmly, escorted inside, and introduced to Brian Wood, setting a highly professional and positive tone for the entire visit. Brian was fantastic-super friendly, charismatic, and entirely honest. I initially brought my 2023 Elantra Limited to sell, and while I mistakenly thought he was also my point of contact for the purchase of my new 2026 Elantra limited Hybrid, he went completely above and beyond anyway. He exceeded every single one of my expectations. Unlike other dealerships that play games, Brian actually listened, let me explain my situation, and thoroughly reviewed the paperwork and competing quotes I brought with me. He was completely transparent, shared some of his own personal experiences, and made the environment feel comfortable and respectful. Not only did Carlsbad Hyundai match the out-of-the-door quote I had from another agency for the 2026 Elantra limited Hybrid, but they also honored the exact online quote I requested prior to arrival for my 2023 Elantra limited trade-in. Even the finance department was a direct, positive, and seamless experience-which is rare in the car-buying world. Dealership leadership needs to recognize Brian Wood for his outstanding professionalism, integrity, and customer service. He absolutely deserves an award for how he handles clients, especially those who have been burned by other local dealerships. Very frustrating experience with AutoNation Hyundai Carlsbad. I purchased a prepaid maintenance plan on April 9, 2024, which includes oil change, oil filter, fluid top-off, tire rotation, and multi-point inspection. Despite this, I was still charged for these services. On my most recent visit, I was charged $134.35 for an oil and filter change that should have been fully covered under my plan. This is not a small misunderstanding,this is a prepaid service that was not applied. When I raised this issue, I was told “you still have time until 2029,” instead of addressing the incorrect charges. I brought it up during my visit, but the service manager was not available. A colleague helped me send an email with my information on Saturday, March 28, 2026, but no one ever followed up. I called several times, and after multiple attempts I finally reached the service manager, but the issue still was not resolved. The frustrating part is that every time something goes wrong, they say the person who helped you is no longer working there. That is not acceptable and does not excuse the lack of accountability. You prepay for a service, and then you are still charged for that same service unless you remind them to apply it even though it should be tied to the VIN and automatically show in their system. This is not how a prepaid plan should work. I’m writing this hoping no one else experiences the same situation. Very disappointing and unacceptable experience.
