  I chose Merrill Stone Chevrolet in Porterville because I wanted a reputable place I could trust. I knew I would likely be charged more and was fine with that as long as my truck was fixed correctly. We paid $200 for the estimate without hesitation. The mechanic, Ernesto, told us the throttle body and air filter needed to be replaced and we were given an estimate close to $1,500. We felt comfortable leaving our truck in their care. About a week later, we were told the truck was ready, but as soon as my husband started it to leave, the check engine light came on. We immediately notified Ernesto and they took the truck back, explaining the throttle body part installed was defective and needed to be reordered. I spoke with the service manager, Mike, who acknowledged the issue and assured me the truck would be thoroughly test-driven before being returned. A few days later, Ernesto called and said the new part had arrived and the truck would be ready by the end of the day or the following morning, but no call came. When I followed up, Ernesto seemed confused and did not recall the conversation until I reminded him, then said it would take a few more days. Mike later took responsibility, explaining there was confusion due to multiple vehicles receiving similar repairs. After two weeks, we were finally told the truck was ready. Once home, my husband noticed a hose had been replaced and there were loose screws under the hood, which had not been mentioned. A day and a half later, while driving on the freeway from Lindsay to Porterville, my brakes completely went out due to a brake vacuum failure. This was terrifying. I contacted the service department and was told to bring it back, but was quoted $1,200 just to inspect it, not including repairs. I reported everything to the general manager, who seemed receptive, but I never received a follow-up call. I was not expecting free work, only honesty, accountability, and professionalism. Unfortunately, that is not what we experienced. I believe something went wrong during the repairs and it was never properly addressed. I feel it’s important to share this experience so others are aware.

  I've purchased more than 20 vehicles and this was the best dealership experience I've had in at least 10 years. I took a risk driving 6 hours because Stone had the vehicle I wanted and offered a fair price via text message. I no longer deal with anyone if I have to go in person or talk on the phone to get a price quote after I contact them online. I don't want to deal with all that hassle. I just want to buy the thing I want. Very clear communication. Didn't try to sneak in any fees or add-ons in finance. Used my pre-approved financing and didn't try to force me into theirs. Even went with me to UHaul to grab a car hauler trailer with my new truck to tow my car home. Highly recommended.

  Omar was great! I took my car in for an oil change and was offered their shuttle service back to my house. They were fast so I opted to wait instead but love that they had that available!
