After more than a decade in Los Angeles—where she began as a teacher and later co-founded an independent elementary school in Santa Monica—she returned home to North County. The experience of building a community-centered school continues to shape her approach to business today. Now, she’s brought the Venice Beach–born Solé Bicycles lifestyle to her hometown, where she sees bicycles as a reflection of freedom, style, and the coastal spirit that defines her roots.

  • Matt Shibel has been amazing. I had such a great experience at Sole Bicycles in Encintas and wanted to share. We brought in our kids’ Segway e-scooters—one had been in a crash and needed repairs, and the other just needed maintenance. From the moment we arrived, Matt went above and beyond. He was incredibly informative, came out to the car to help me carry the scooters in while I was dealing with a hip issue, and kept us updated throughout the process. He also worked hard to get us the best pricing possible for everything that was needed. My son was eager to get back to riding his scooter to school, and Matt made sure one of the scooters was finished quickly—and at a very affordable price. It’s clear they really know what they’re doing here and genuinely care about their customers. I highly recommend Sole Bicycles to anyone looking for an e-bike or needing repairs. We had an amazing experience and will definitely be back!

  • Solé in Encinitas is such a cool shop. The interior aesthetics alone makes you want to hang out for a bit, and the whole place has that effortless coastal vibe. The bikes strike a great balance between modern and vintage 70s style, which feels perfectly on brand for Encinitas. I brought my bike in for a tune up and was seriously impressed. Matt walked me through the tweaks and adjustments he made in a way that actually made sense. As someone who doesn’t do much of my own bike maintenance, I really appreciated that approach. The attention to detail was next level, and after thousands of miles on this bike it honestly feels better than ever. Great shop, great vibe, great people! I haven’t bought a bike from them yet, but after this experience and checking out the bikes, my next one will definitely be from Solé. Highly recommend!

  • The best bike shop in the area. We took our bikes in for service on short notice, they were accommodating, friendly, they did great work and they were really affordable. The shop is locally owned and operated, the owner and other front of the house staff were super sweet. The guys working the back are the perfect blend of laid back and hard working. Everyone is clearly passionate about their work and rightfully proud of their shop. I wish I could give them six stars.
