On February 23, 2026, I purchased a 2010 Honda Accord coupe with 228,000 miles for $3,400. During the test drive, multiple dashboard warning lights were already on (ABS, brake light, TPMS). I directly asked the salesperson, Anthony, about these lights. I was told they were due to normal wear and tear on an older vehicle, were very minor, and did not affect the engine. I was also explicitly reassured that the check engine light would not come on and that there were no engine issues. Those reassurances mattered. I was made to feel confident, encouraged, and reassured that I was making a good purchase. I was told they were good people who look out for their community. I trusted what I was told, and based on those statements, I purchased the vehicle. Less than 15 minutes after leaving the lot and getting on the freeway, the check engine light came on. I immediately contacted Anthony and was told it was likely due to the gas cap not being tightened after fueling. I followed that instruction, but the light did not turn off. Despite this, the issue continued to be minimized through repeated reassurances that it was insignificant and that I simply needed to keep the age and mileage of the car in mind. What became clear very quickly was that important information was consistently being downplayed or omitted. The problem was not that the car was older or high mileage — I understood that fully. The problem was that issues serious enough to immediately trigger a check engine light were repeatedly framed as minor, and explanations that later proved inaccurate directly influenced my decision to buy the car. When concerns surfaced, I was made to feel as though I was overreacting, rather than being given clear and transparent information. On the morning of February 24, 2026, I took the vehicle to an independent mechanic for a diagnostic. The diagnostic returned code P0403. I was advised that the repair would likely cost more than the value of the vehicle and was strongly encouraged to return it. I was also informed that, in California, a vehicle with this code cannot be legally smogged. This was extremely concerning, as the car had been sold to me as smogged and registered. When I raised these findings, I was again told the issue was minor and encouraged to rely solely on the dealer’s mechanic instead of the independent diagnostic. I was also told they were unaware of the code at the time of sale. By that point, my trust was completely gone. The repeated minimization, reassurance, and lack of transparency made it impossible for me to feel confident that I was being told the truth. I returned the vehicle on February 24, 2026 — one day after purchase — and I did receive a full refund. I feel fortunate, because after reading other reviews, it appears not everyone was able to walk away with their money. I am writing this as a strong warning to future buyers: do not rely on verbal reassurances, goodwill language, or being made to feel like you’re getting a “great deal.” Get an independent pre-purchase inspection before buying, no matter what you are told. While I wanted to support this business and believed the words I was given, this experience left me feeling misled, gaslit, and deeply disappointed. Final note to future buyers: if a vehicle shows warning signs and those concerns are repeatedly minimized or dismissed, take that seriously — your ability to walk away may be the only thing protecting you. Let’s be clear: this review reflects exactly what happened. Multiple dashboard warning lights were on during the test drive, and more issues appeared immediately after purchase—all documented. That refund? WAS NOT A GESTURE OF GENEROSITY. It was you "Jay's Auto Sales" correcting a mistake. Framing it as “good faith” while throwing shade my way? I see you—but facts aren’t opinions, and shade doesn’t erase the record. For anyone thinking about buying here: these cars will get you from A to B, nothing more. If you’re spending your hard-earned money, know that you’re not buying reliability!
Jay and Anthony were so nice to help us find a great SUV for my dad. The SUV is in good condition and the price is really affordable. Anthony was very prompt and gave me an appointment, he arrived and showed up on time. Very happy customer here. Will be recommending to friends and relatives.
Lemons and sour grapes! Jay sold my 19 year old daughter a car for $6k. He took advantage of a young college student purchasing a car. My daughter went without me and my husband. The car Ran HOT 10 days after purchase, then the transmission slipped, 90 days after purchase. Jay said his mechanic would help. Never heard from Jay again. He gaslighted me when I called to tell him about my daughter’s car. He made no effort to meet us in the middle, with anything. He told me he had a lawyer too. Lemon deal at its finest and he took financial advantage $6k cash money from a 19 year old college student and sold her a horrible car overheating and transmission slipping. No accountability from Jay. Then when I told him I was going to discuss this with my ex husband, Jay started whining like a mouse, stating, I was threatening him, since when does a discussion with a father about his daughter, turn into a threat, the only threat perceived is, Jay you know you are wrong.
