Description
For sale: a beautiful 1956 Mason & Hamlin spinet piano in rich mahogany finish. Mason & Hamlin is one of America’s most storied piano makers, founded in 1854 and one of only two surviving American piano manufacturers from the Golden Age of pianos — the other being Steinway. A vintage Mason & Hamlin often sounds better than — and retains resale value exceeding — other higher-priced new pianos. This instrument is fully functional with excellent resonance and tone, characteristic of the Mason & Hamlin legacy. The mahogany cabinet features elegant Art Nouveau-style decorative woodwork. Sale includes the matching bench. As expected with a nearly 70-year-old antique, there is normal cosmetic wear: some key yellowing, a couple of ivory key veneers that were previously repaired (see photos), and minor surface scratches and nicks in the wood from decades of use. Many of these surface blemishes could easily be touched up with a wood stain marker and polish and would barely be noticeable — nothing that affects the instrument’s rich, full sound. Local pickup: downtown Orlando Buyer responsible for moving.
