Antique Chicago Roller Skate Co. / Ware Bros. black leather roller skates, marked Size 6, “Pat. Aug. 15, 1914” and “Made in U.S.A.” Classic American rink skates with black leather lace-up boots, metal Chicago skate assemblies and wooden wheels. Includes the aged metal carrying case and skate adjustment wrench shown. Chicago Roller Skate Co. was established in Chicago in 1905 by Ralph and Walter Ware. The company introduced rink-style leather boots during the 1920s, while wooden wheels were associated with indoor wooden rink floors. Original aged condition with substantial authentic wear and patina. Leather shows scuffs, creasing and wear; metal components show oxidation; wooden wheels show use; case has extensive surface rust, wear and aging. Sold as a historical collectible/display set; skating safety and mechanical performance have not been verified. Excellent display piece for a roller-skating collection, sports memorabilia collection, roller-rink decor, recreation room, loft, retail display or vintage Americana decor.
