Vintage Wharfedale 60 Speakers

I have a beautiful pair of vintage British made Wharfedale 60 speakers. They in good working order with some cosmetic blemishes as shown in photos. The Wharfedale W60 was made from 1962 to 1966. It is a 2 way system featuring a 12" Alnico woofer and a paper cone tweeter. These are the original W60 which has the 5" tweeter. Crossover is simple - utilizing a single 12uF paper capacitor and an L-Pad to control the high frequency output. Construction quality is high - heavily built with even a separate enclosure for the tweeter. These beautiful Wharfedale speakers are a two-way bass reflex design with a tuned port The drivers are a 12.5 inch woofer and 5 inch dual-cone mid-tweeter. The enclosures are very heavy and in addition the 1-inch thick removable is filled with 6 pounds of sand to control cabinet vibrations. The speakers are beautifully finished in book-matched walnut veneer and solid walnut trim. The sound is warm and very musical, with slightly rolled off high frequencies. High frequencies can be controlled with an L-pad. These are excellent speakers for jazz and blues. They are very efficient requiring very little power and therefore are an excellent match with single ended tube amplifiers.
