My hard-working 19-year-old son purchased a Corvette from Calk Motors (Arizona) and had it shipped to California. We were excited, but the check engine light came on right away when we first drove it. We contacted the owner immediately and were told it was “no big deal.”

What made this worse is that we were sent a video showing the car “running fine,” but we later learned the check engine light had been reset with a scanner. Since delivery, the car has been in the shop and we’ve had to get multiple inspections and opinions. We are now dealing with major mechanical issues that should never have been present at the time of sale.

When we asked Calk Motors to help make it right, the response was disappointing—he said the 15-day liability period was over and refused to assist, even though the issues were discovered immediately and the car has been in the shop since.

Financially, my son is stuck with a huge burden: $3,000 down, $22,000 financed, plus about $2,000 in CA taxes/fees (around $27,000 total), and we’re already facing about $3,400+ in repair/diagnostic costs, with payments still due.

Please get a full independent inspection and get everything in writing before buying from here—especially if you’re purchasing out of state and shipping the vehicle.

My partner and I recently bought a Tesla model S from Allen and originally we were just going to look at it and kind of filled the place out because of past experiences at other dealers were not so great Allen and his staff were so friendly and nice we did not fill in any way pressured into anything the whole experience was absolutely great. I would highly recommend if you’re trying to buy a used car to buy it from call motors. Allen also had a lot of knowledge of the cars specifically the one we were buying to. Which made us feel a lot more comfortable with it. We don’t just feel like we went and bought a car at a used car lot. I purchased a 2011 C6 Corvette from Calk Motors in Arizona and had it shipped to me to California after being repeatedly assured by Allen that the vehicle was in great condition with no mechanical issues.

This representation was false.

Upon arrival, the vehicle immediately had a check engine light and multiple serious drivetrain problems. After proper inspection, the car was found to have significant mechanical defects, including torque tube failure and persistent misfire issues. These are not minor wear-and-tear items they are major mechanical faults that directly affect drivability and safety.

At no point were these issues disclosed prior to sale. Selling a vehicle while representing it as being in “great condition” when it has active mechanical faults constitutes clear misrepresentation and failure to disclose material defects.

When I contacted the dealership to address the situation, there was no accountability and no meaningful effort to assist with repairs or reimbursement.

Buyers should exercise extreme caution. If you are considering purchasing from this dealership get a fully independent third party inspection before signing anything. Do not rely solely on the seller’s representations.

My experience resulted in significant unexpected repair costs and stress due to what appears to be deceptive business practices.
