Description
President Richard Nixon and Vice President Spiro Agnew medal for their 2nd Inauguration in 1973 from Franklin Mint. Solid bronze composition. Nixon’s inauguration Committee had awarded the medal contract to Franklin Mint and Gilroy Roberts, former Chief engraver of the United States Mint, oversaw the medal’s design. Roberts, himself, engraved on the obverse of the medal the portraits, in high relief, of Nixon and Agnew. His artist’s mark is under Nixon’s profile. On the reverse is the Great Seal of the United States with an American Eagle surrounded by a ring of 50 stars. Included is the inauguration date of January 20, 1973. Made in USA. This is the only inaugural medal showing a President and Vice President who later resigned (Agnew 1973 and Nixon 1974.) Approximately 2 3/4” in diameter and 1/4” thick. Stamped on the edge is “The Franklin Mint” and “(c) 1973 Inaugural Committee - solid Bronze.” The medal weighs approximately 7.9 oz. This medal is in excellent condition with NO scratches etc. Includes original plastic protective holder. Cash only. Pickup in New Hyde Park, Nassau County, Long Island.
