As the story goes, specimens of an as-yet-unidentified pink crystal were found in San Diego County, California, and sent to Tiffany & Co's mineralogist, George Frederick Kunz. The year was 1902. Kunz was able to confim that the crystals were, in fact, spodumene, but the previously unrecognized color made the find a new variety of the mineral. In the world of metaphysics, pink kunzite is deeply associated with love, compassion, and emotional healing. It's believed to open the heart chakra, foster connection between the heart and mind, and facilitate the ability to experience and reciprocate love. Kunzite is also thought to help heal heartache, calm nerves, and promote a sense of tranquility.
