Description

Vintage Dazey No. 40 hand-crank butter churn with the original glass jar, cast-iron mechanism, gears, crank handle and wooden paddles. This is a great old piece and appears to be complete and in very nice original condition for its age. - Original Dazey glass jar - Embossed Dazey Churn & Mfg. Co. – St. Louis, MO - Original crank and wooden handle intact - All gear teeth present - Internal wooden paddles intact - Glass is exceptionally clean with no chips, cracks or noticeable scratches - Mechanism has its original aged/rusty patina - Has not been refinished or restored The Smithsonian has an essentially matching Dazey No. 40 in its National Museum of American History collection. It identifies the model as having been patented February 14, 1922 and dates its example to 1922–1930. The Smithsonian describes the same basic construction: glass jar, metal gear mechanism, wooden crank handle and wooden dasher/paddles.
