Description
Natural Artifacts...2 pieces...both both legally purchased years ago... PETRIFIED WOOD...from the PETRIFIED FOREST/PAINTED DESERT in Arizona. ORTHOCERAS......A slab containing multiple fossils of Orthoceras. Orthoceras are extinct nautiloid cephalopods, ancient mollusks that lived more than 400 million years ago, primarily during the Middle Ordovician period. The name "Orthoceras" means "straight horn," referring to their characteristic long, straight, conical shell, which is the part commonly preserved as a fossil. These creatures were ancestors of modern-day squid and nautilus, and they used jet propulsion to move through ancient oceans. Orthoceras fossils are frequently found in marine limestones, particularly in regions like the Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
