Description
Very good digital stage piano for home or studio, former Yamaha flagship model. What makes it unique is a truly authentic hammer-action fully weighted keyboard: it matches the key action of a Yamaha's 9-ft acoustic CFX concert grand and delivers two essential components of a piano: a realistic sound of a grand piano with its authentic key action. All you really need from a piano! P-80 is a part of Yamaha's successful P-series stage pianos, suitable for many users, from beginners just learning to play, to a serious musician, classical and rock, who use it for daily practice and live gigs. Stage piano differs from home pianos like Clavinova series by being portable and reasonably lightweight, easier to move around and take out on gigs (Clavinovas weight a ton and cost a fortune). It's essentially a portable version of a heavier P-200 piano that's designed for stationary home use. P-80 has exactly the same weighted keyboard as in top-of-the-line P-200 and P-250 pianos (and S80 synthesizer) and the same palette of sampled piano sounds. Several very realistic acoustic pianos, four e-pianos (one is the legendary DX7 piano, heard at countless hits of the 80s and 90s), plus all other classics: Rhodes, Wurlitzer, etc. It also has a good mix of other instruments: organs, clavs, strings, bass.). Two sounds can be layered together (like piano+strings, or piano+bass, for jazz-type "walking bass" play, etc.) P-80 has several variations of reverb effect (that makes sound brighter and more spacious, like you play in a big space), and several piano-specific effects like tremolo. P-80 is an excellent choice for your first piano if you are thinking about learning to play or teaching your kids. It's a better solution than getting an acoustic upright: way less weight, better sound (several sounds to choose actually), no tuning and maintenance headaches (digital never needs tuning) and portability: you can move it by yourself and store vertically in the corner of the room when not needed. It's also a more practical solution if you are not sure how your learning will progress or if your kids will still have interest in playing in the future. Digital pianos hold the value well and you won't have a problem selling it when not needed. They don't age or become obsolete like synthesizers, piano as instrument was around for the last 350+ years, literally unchanged. Here are some video demos (not mine) https://offerup.co/faYXKzQFnY?$deeplink_path=/redirect/ En Espanol: https://offerup.co/faYXKzQFnY?$deeplink_path=/redirect/ Our son learned to play on this piano to the point that now he can play anything by ear (plays any song right after he listens to it) and is writing his own music on MacBook (using this piano as a MIDI controller). It's very important to start learning on a real piano-action keyboard to train your fingers and to build a proper playing technique. Can't do that on a simple toy keyboard with a springy keys that even remotely doesn't feel like a real piano. Any piano teacher will tell you that. Keep in mind that many old school piano teachers have no idea what modern digital piano is, thinking it's something like these plastic toy keyboards from Walmart. They may insist on getting an acoustic piano. We had this misunderstanding with our son's first piano teacher, until we put this piano next to her old acoustic upright, to her embarrassment, because sound and key action of P-80 were much better! P-80 has several built-in teaching tools: preloaded practice music where you can play left and right hand parts separately, thus learning one hand at the time, easier. It also has ton of demos ("Moonlight Sonata" and others), you can just play along, a very effective way of learning. A sequencer (note recorder) lets you record your play and analyze later. P-80 is a professional instrument, and as all professional keyboards and synthesizers it doesn't have a built-in speakers. They meant to be used with an amplifier or connected to a big sound system. For home use we found that a typical home theater-type amplifier with bookshelf speakers works the best: clean natural sound with just enough loudness for home. I can give you such amp (SONY) with speakers and all the cables needed. IMHO it sounds better than any built-in speakers in other pianos: clean, with very pronounced midrange and plenty of bass. Can't get that sound with tiny built-in speakers. This piano is in excellent condition, was bought new and used at home only the whole time. Everything works 100%, can be tested however you want. Comes with a stand, music rest and sustain pedal. I can give you a folding bench (piano stool) if you want. Located in Foster City, can be seen pretty much any day. Despite its size it can be carried in any car, even the compact ones like Toyota Corolla (it goes laterally on a passenger's seat with back folded flat). I can assist you with the delivery after t
