I purchased a 2014 Dodge Durango from House of Cars about a year ago. At the time, I explained that I specifically needed a larger, dependable vehicle for my growing family.

Before finalizing the purchase, I put down a $200 deposit to hold the vehicle while I switched my auto loan over. My understanding was that this deposit would be refunded, but I never received the refund. I was also told a missing volume knob would be mailed to me once it came in, but I never received that either.

Within less than two weeks of purchase, the vehicle needed suspension work. I was later told the suspension components on the vehicle were not properly rated for it. A few months after that, the alternator went out. Now, roughly one year after purchase, I have been quoted more than $8,500 in front-engine repairs involving cam/lifter/rocker components.

The timing of this has been extremely difficult for my family, as this happened right before we were supposed to bring our daughter home after a long NICU stay. I understand this is a used vehicle, but the number and seriousness of the issues in such a short time has been very disappointing and financially stressful.

I also reached out previously regarding the deposit and did not receive a response. At this point, I am gathering my purchase documents, repair records, and communication history.

I would encourage anyone considering purchasing here to review all paperwork carefully, get an independent inspection before buying, confirm any promises in writing, and keep documentation of all communication.

If anyone else has had similar issues with this company, I would be open to hearing from you and comparing documentation to better understand whether this is an isolated experience or part of a larger pattern. I am also considering contacting the appropriate consumer protection agencies.
