Description
Type: Classic American oak swivel office / banker’s chair with spindle (slat) back. Features visible: Solid oak construction with visible grain. Flat top rail and vertical spindles forming the back. Curved wooden arms. Contoured solid wood seat. Swivel and height-adjustment mechanism (threaded column + star/triangular metal adjustment knob under the seat). Coil spring tilt mechanism visible underneath. Five-legged wooden star base with brass/gold-colored casters. Maker and DateMaker: Unknown/unmarked. The photos show no brand stamp, patent date, or label. Companies such as Heywood-Wakefield, B.L. Marble, Gunlocke, Milwaukee Chair Co., Seng, and many smaller factories produced similar chairs. Without a mark, it is best described as unmarked commercial production. Date: Most likely circa 1900–1940 (early to mid-20th century). The spindle back, wooden arms, cast-iron-style swivel/tilt mechanism with spring, and five-star wooden base are characteristic of that period. Some comparable examples continued into the 1940s–50s. 18" wide × 23" deep × 35" Condition: Shows honest age and matches a 100-year-old office chair. Expect surface scratches, minor dings, and natural patina on the seat and arms. Wood is solid with no major cracks. Two of the slats are missing. The mechanism appears intact. Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the description.
