Description
Fijian Tapa cloth is called “ Masai” in Fiji and also called Barkcloth, as the bark of the Mulberry tree is stripped off the trunk, soaked, and then pounded into various sizes. It is then printed, using incised design boards of wood and instruments. Color is added using native plant materials, made into an ink-like consistency.
