Description
The Hallicrafters S-240 is a solid-state, general coverage shortwave radio from the late 1960s/early 1970s, known for its classic look with a chrome front and walnut-grained case, offering AM, FM, and Shortwave (1.8-30 MHz) bands for hobbyists and ham radio enthusiasts, featuring a BFO for CW/SSB and a compact design suitable for desktops, blending vintage style with early transistor tech. I've tested it to the best of my knowledge, it's in working order. Measures roughly 14" width, 5.25" height, 7" depth. Extendable shortwave antenna extends to 38.5". 1/4" mono headphone jack. Tuner output to hook up to external amplifier. Two knobs are missing their circular covers or plates. The fine tuning knob is slightly bent, but still works fine. The white wire in the last photo is a crude FM antenna. It could be resoldered, but an external FM antenna would perform much better. I saw reports to not use an antenna longer than 10 feet on the rear terminals, or maybe 12 feet (including the hook-up wire). You may want to have this serviced, to inspect the capacitors for safe operation. Cash preferred. I can take Zelle or PayPal. Pickup available: 1. Lake Forest Park. 2. Seattle, Safeway near Climate Pledge Arena (sometimes). 3. Seattle, Aurora Ave and 96th (sometimes).
