This is a plaque for the USS Barracuda (SSK-1), a submarine that served in the United States Navy. The USS Barracuda (SSK-1) was the third U.S. Navy ship to be named after the barracuda fish. It was originally designated K-1 and was the lead ship of its class. The submarine was laid down on July 1, 1949, and commissioned on November 10, 1951. The ship's crest features a barracuda wearing a helmet and wielding a torpedo, with the submarine's name and hull number, SSK-1, inscribed on the shield. The submarine served as an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) hunter-killer submarine.
