Description
Traditional Hawaiian style surfboard called an alaia, made from historic old growth California redwood. I’ve been shaping this style of surfboard for years after learning from master craftsmen such as Jon Wegener and other shapers in Hawai’i. The board has no fins, is completely flat, and floats very little yet they are still very surfable if you know what you are doing. The strong concave through he middle and tapered rails help you grip the wave face and go straight. The old growth redwood came from a supplier in Northern California who has pulled sunken logs from the logging era of the redwoods (mid 1800’s) from bottom of the river where the freshwater has preserved them for the past 175 years. I have found this wood to be very bouyant and much more durable and beautiful compared to other wood used for alaias. Board is fully functional but also looks great in the corner of a room. This particular board was made for a surf shop in San Diego that unfortunately is having to close its doors. Selling now at discounted price to make room in my workshop. Will deliver anywhere from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara Please reach out with any questions. Dimensions are 6’4 x 18 x 1 Shaper: Evil Jungle Prince @eviljungleprince_
