Cybis Porcelain Bust ~ Madonna with Bird ~ Retired

This Cybis figurine (design #20206) is the one that was originally produced as the 'Madonna with Bird'. It was issued in 1956 and retired from the Biblical Collection Series in 1989. It is hand signed by Cybis and is 11.5 inches tall. On Cybis' 50th Anniversary (1989), Phil Allen (V/P operations) decided to remake the Madonna as a replica of this original. It was to be sold only in the 'Hall of Fame' Collection to Society Members. This new Madonna is only 9.5 inches tall and was given the design number 20184. Then in November of 1993 the term "replica" was omitted from the title and the design number was changed to 02184. It sometimes sells under design number 2148C. What we are selling is the first and original Madonna (design #20206) that is 11.5 inches tall. This sculpture is by far the most unique creation of any ever produced in the history of this industry. The Madonna is depicted looking wistfully down at the blue bird sitting on her right hand. She is silently saying 'I Love You'. If you can read sign language you'll also see that the Madonna is actually signing that phrase, not only to the bird, but in reality to us all. This creation is a classic melding of art and divinity that is unique to figurines. She is in excellent condition.
