Grows as a hardy spreading groundcover which becomes drought tolerant once established. It leaves are nutritious, has high levels of antioxidants, useful compounds are mainly Carvacrol, and Thymol, which contain antiviral, antibacterial, and anticancer properties. Has an aromatic, mild flavor to it, spicier, and more robust than traditional oregano, with a taste reminiscent of rosemary. Leaves can be eaten fresh, or flowers can be harvested and dried for use as a kitchen spice.
