Up for sale is an authentic, historic American railroad pocket watch: a Hamilton Grade 940 (Model 1), manufactured in Lancaster, PA circa 1912. The Grade 940 was Hamilton's premier 18-size workhorse and remains one of the most sought-after antique railroad watches. Key Details: Brand / Maker: Hamilton Watch Co. (Lancaster, PA) Movement Serial Number: 962332 (Dates to approx. 1912) Grade: 940 (Model 1) Size & Jewels: 18 Size, 21 Jewels (raised gold screw-down chatons) Adjustments: 5 Positions, Temperature, Isochronism (Railroad Standard) Configuration: Open face, Lever-set (setting lever accessible under the bezel near 1:30) Dial: Double-sunk porcelain enamel dial with Arabic numerals and red outer 5-minute track. Dial is in clean cosmetic condition. Hands: Original blued-steel spade hands. Case: Dueber Watch Case Co. "Warranted 20 Years" Gold-Filled. Threaded screw-off bezel and case back. Condition / Mechanism Notes: The watch winds, ticks, and the minute and hour hands advance. The balance assembly and hairspring are intact and functional. The sub-second hand is currently off and safely stored in a small sealed bag (included). A watchmaker inspected it and noted the fourth wheel pivot needs repair or replacement to re-mount the sub-second hand properly. Being sold as-is for repair, restoration, or parts.
