Stanley CSFBB179 Electrified 5-Knuckle Full-Mortise Hinge w/ Concealed Magnetic Switch

Condition: Used – fully functional with minor cosmetic wear; includes 3-conductor wire leads (Red, Black, Green/White). No other accessories or documentation noted. This Stanley CSFBB179 is a commercial-grade electrified full-mortise hinge that combines concealed door-to-frame wiring transfer with an integrated magnetically actuated contact for door status monitoring. The concealed magnetic switch (listed as UL 343R) is commonly used in monitored access control and institutional openings where you want a clean installation—no visible door loop—while still getting reliable open/closed signaling to an access control panel, alarm input, or building automation system. The 5-knuckle, exposed bearing construction supports higher-cycle use and smoother operation on heavier doors compared with plain-bearing hinges. Specifications Manufacturer: Stanley Model: CSFBB179 Type: Electrified hinge with integrated magnetic contact (door position status) Switch: Magnetically actuated, UL Listed 343R Mount style: Full mortise Knuckles: 5 Bearings: Exposed bearing Wire leads: 3-conductor (Red, Black, Green/White) Material/finish: Stainless steel or brushed chrome (verify by appearance) Country of origin: Made in USA UPC/GTIN: Not provided Detailed Description Designed for commercial and institutional access control openings, the CSFBB179 provides a protected pathway for low-voltage conductors from frame to door, while its concealed magnetic switch reports door position without requiring a separate surface contact or a visible loop. This reduces tampering points, improves aesthetics, and helps maintain a more professional finish on secured doors. The exposed-bearing, 5-knuckle hinge geometry is aimed at high-cycle operation—typical for offices, schools, healthcare facilities (non-patient-contact hardware), and controlled-access doors—where consistent alignment and reliable status reporting matter. Features Concealed wiring path between frame and door (cleaner than door loops) Integrated magnetic contact switch for door-open/door-closed monitoring UL Listed (343R) contact suitable for monitored access applications 5-knuckle hinge design for improved stability and smoother swing Exposed bearings support higher duty cycles and reduced wear Full-mortise format for standard commercial hinge prep (door & frame) 3-conductor lead set (color-coded) simplifies field termination Durable metal construction suited for institutional/commercial environments Applications Access control doors requiring door status (DPS) monitoring Alarmed/secured openings where the system must confirm door closed before arming/locking Doors using electric locks (maglocks, electric strikes) that need monitoring inputs Remote monitoring for prop-door, forced-door, and door-held events High-traffic interior openings (offices, schools, warehouses, corridors) Spheres of Application Commercial office buildings Education (schools, campuses) Municipal / government facilities Retail back-of-house and controlled stock rooms Industrial sites and warehouses Property management / multi-tenant buildings Cross-Referenced Models (Exact equivalency depends on hinge size, door weight class, handing, and contact/wiring requirements—verify your cutout/prep and electrical ratings.) Stanley: CSFBB179 (exact model) Stanley (same concept / family): CSFBB-series electrified hinges with magnetic contact (verify exact suffix/size) SARGENT: electrified hinges with integrated DPS (varies by series) Hager: electrified hinges (e.g., “electrified” variants with concealed transfer) Ives (Schlage): electrified hinge families with concealed transfer / monitoring options McKinney / ASSA ABLOY: electrified hinge lines with monitoring options Comparable Products Concealed door loop + separate recessed magnetic contact (more visible hardware, simpler hinge) Electric power transfer (EPT) + standard hinge set (keeps hinge non-electrified; uses separate transfer) Electrified hinge without DPS (for wiring transfer only, if door monitoring is handled elsewhere) Surface door loop (lowest cost, most visible, more tamper-prone) Integration Notes This hinge often functions as part of a complete controlled-opening system: Door hardware: electrified hinge (CSFBB179) + lock (maglock/strike) + closer + latchset/exit device Wiring path: access control panel → frame → hinge transfer → door hardware / contact input Inputs/outputs: door position status input, lock power output, request-to-exit input, etc. Practical install tips (non-brand-specific): Confirm the hinge size and template/prep match your door/frame (full-mortise pattern). Verify conductor needs (3-wire provided)—some systems require more conductors depending on lock + monitoring scheme. Use appropriate flex/strain relief and keep low-voltage wiring separated from line-voltage per local codes.
