Description

Vintage Chinese watercolor painting on pith paper of a sailboat, framed. The artwork depicts a traditional Chinese sailboat, known as a junk or sampan, on water. The painting is created on pith paper, a material made from the inner stem of the Tetrapanax papyrifer plant, which was commonly used for Chinese export art in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The text on the painting translates to "smooth sailing" or "wishing you a safe journey". The piece is likely a collectible item, possibly dating from the mid-20th century. There is some water damage noticable on the left side of the painting. tags: art, artwork, art piece, painting, vintage art, vintage painting, watercolor painting, chinese paint, asian art, chinese art, mid century, collectible, antique
