Description
Early American Pressed Glass (EAPG) refers to a style of glassware produced in the United States from the mid-19th century through the early 20th century. These pieces were made using molds, allowing for intricate patterns and designs to be mass-produced at a more affordable price than hand-blown or cut glass. EAPG became incredibly popular for tableware, decorative items, and serving dishes, with many patterns becoming highly sought after by collectors today. Imperial Glass Company, founded in 1901 in Bellaire, Ohio, was a major producer of EAPG. Their "NuCut" line, introduced in the 1910s, featured brilliant cut glass patterns on pressed glass blanks, mimicking the appearance of more expensive cut crystal. This particular dish, with its sawtooth rim and star patterns, is a representative example of the decorative and functional items produced during this era, often used for serving candies, nuts, or olives.
