Large collection of Vintage Harlem Globetrotters iron on patches commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Globetrotters. Abe Saperstein, a promoter in 1926, originally formed the team as the Savoy Big Five. In 1927, amidst dramatic racial segregation, the team changed their name to include Harlem, signifying their racial identity, as African Americans were not allowed to play sports professionally in the US. Significantly, the Globetrotters beat the NBA World Champions, the Minneapolis Lakers in back to back meetings circa 1948 and 1949. * I have the patches priced individually, or at $70 for all as a package deal.
