Biedermeier style. Around 1850 in Germany. The style often has the black trim called EBONIZING. Which is not paint but made from a chemical process directly on the wood. The piece is ash wood. Biedermeier furniture is important in history because it was the first furniture made for the middle class. They began using their living spaces as a family more instead of keeping living rooms formal and only for company. Biedermeier took the French style of the time which had lots of gold and brass and decorations, and made it more simple. Six drawers. 38 long x 18 wide x 53 high
