This is a art piece from a series called “Childhood Memories” by Pham Quoc Hung there are only 4 in the world, It was made by drawing a design on thin paper, pasting it face-down onto a sanded wooden block, and carving away the blank spaces with chisels so only the image lines remain raised in relief. A separate block is carved for every color in the design, and alignment guide marks are cut into the corners of each piece of wood to ensure the layers match perfectly. The printer then brushes water-based pigments onto the raised surfaces, aligns a sheet of damp mulberry paper using the guide marks, and rubs the back of the paper with a flat bamboo pad to transfer the ink into the fibers, repeating this layering process block by block until the final image is complete. This style is called woodblock painting.
